GCSE – The heart of the paper
Recently, our good friend and former Villager colleague left Runevillage for reasons unknown. What he left behind is a huge tear in Runevillage’s community that will be hard to repair. GCSE was one of our more mature Villagers, everyone he talked to enjoyed his company and his posts were always interesting and full of the spark that made GCSE… well, GCSE.
His love of music and his daughters has always been a big part of him throughout his Runevillage life and he was always there to offer words of support to those that needed it. GCSE was a pillar in the Villager paper team and it was a sad day when he departed the paper's office. When he went into the hospital, Runevillage’s love of him shone brightly in the threads that his daughter made to keep us updated on his progress.
I only got to know GCSE very well a few months before he left but from then until now we have formed a strong friendship that I hope will be around forever. Through the good and the bad GCSE has always managed to bring a smile to my face and is understanding when I’m having one of my not so good days. When I get the chance to talk to him he is so full of life, even at 1am in the morning, which is hard even for the best of people.
Why did GCSE leave the village? That I am not sure of, perhaps he just felt time it was time to move on along the road of life, but he will never have truly left, the flame that was GCSE’s spirit in the village will still burn on in the hearts of those that were touched by his character, as reflected in his new rank of Legend, of which he was (and is) most certainly deserving.
